TO CELEBRATE VOLUNTEER'S WEEK - FIRST WEEK OF JUNE
VOLUNTEERING - IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS!
WRITTEN BY ONE OF OURS! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Volunteering has helped me rebuild my life, and given me a sense of purpose, pride and is good for the soul.
Volunteering for me isn't a selfless pursuit. I get as much from volunteering as I put in, probably more.
I have had some challenging times over the recent years, and subsequently had become mentally unwell. I had breakdown last year following separation from my wife.
As my situation stabilised and I become better, I realised how much I had been supported by local services, and really wanted to show thanks and give something back.
The volunteering opportunity allows me to meet new wholesome people,
it gives me something to look forward to, and feel a part of a team who are helping wider community.
So it would nice to say I do volunteering to selflessly help others, but in reality its given me at least as much as I put in.
JUST TO REMIND YOU -
WE STILL HAVE WEEK 7 AND 8 OF OUR HILL PROJECT!
COME ALONG OR ENCOURAGE YOUR YOUNG ONES TO COME!
Week 7 focuses on managing those less than positive thoughts and Week 8 is time to get arty!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
ON SUNDAY 20TH JUNE
FOR ALL THOSE FATHER FIGURES
We are leaping into May with our Hill Project, which started recently.
At The Hill Community Centre, those between 15 and 21 years old can come to whatever session appeals! Learn new skills, get advice and support, and meet each other. So good after Lockdown!
From 10th to 23rd May,
Foster Care Fortnight is a time to thank our foster carers, service, fundraisers and campaigners. It's also a time to challenge stigma and encourage new support.
On 6th May, we also have Maternal Mental Health Day to remind us to especially help all those caring for babies and young children!
From 10th to 16th May,
BYHP will focus on Mental Health Awareness Care Week.
1. Connect - talking with family, old and new friends for everyone's benefit
2. Take notice - being mindful looks after yourself and all around you
3. Give - small gifts, volunteering, a smile - all show kindness
4. Be active - enjoying exercise makes you feel good
5. Keep learning - developing new skills boosts self-esteem
