BYHP Mediation and Family Work

Who can we help?
We can help you if:
a young person, aged 14 – 18 in your family is at risk of becoming homeless
if there is a conflict between a young person and family members
if a young person wants to leave home in a planned way
if a young person has run away from home or been kicked out
Mediation is a way for families to get together and try to resolve difficulties they have with the support of an independent and impartial mediator. In a mediation meeting young people and their families are encouraged to listen to each others perspective and to problem solve for themselves by discussing tensions in the relationship and finding ways to manage these and to agree on ways to move forward.
In family work BYHP can offer one to one support to young people and their families so that difficulties can be discussed confidentially and options explored in preparation for a joint mediation meeting or more in-depth individual support.
