Alcohol Support

Comic Relief fund BYHP to offer both group and individual opportunities to support young people between the age of 16 and 25 who abuse alcohol.

Alcohol awareness projects are targeted at young people who are not in education or employment; and for whom alcohol is or could be a contributory factor in causing homelessness. The projects provide practical knowledge about alcohol which allows young people to make informed choices about their own drinking.

1-2-1 work uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and motivational strategies which challenge young people to think about their problems differently and make positive changes in their life; this can lead to them drinking more safely and feeling better able to cope.

Alcohol work is delivered within the values of youth work which allow for young people to gain confidence and self esteem through regular contact with an alcohol worker experienced in youth work; participation in projects which are fun; and being able to share personal experiences without being judged.
